12 million Shiite pilgrims commemorate Imam Kadhim's martyrdom

Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Millions of Iraqi Shiite defied the bombs and suicidal actions to commemorate the annual religious ceremonies of the martyrdom of Imam Musa al-Kadhim, grandson of Prophet Mohammed.

Many Da'ish suicidal attempts were made during the time of the ceremonies, but these actions did not prevent the Shiite in Iraq from completing their foot-walking to the holy shrine of Imam al-Kadhim in Baghdad.

Imam al-Kadhim was martyred in the year 799.

Around the holy shrine, all areas were covered in black with the masses flooding towards the shrine to commemorate the martyrdom.

Some of the Iraqis crossed nearly 600 kilometers walking from southern areas to mid Iraq, Baghdad, with expectations that more than 12 million pilgrims attended these ceremonies during the past week, which was culminated on the eve of Tuesday yesterday.

Officially, it was reported that 25.0000 Arab and foreign Shiites attended this year's ceremony, amid strict security measures all over the roads leading to the holy shrine.
